Our Experience

The Stud was established in 1976 by Mr & Mrs RB Skepper as a Flat racing Thoroughbred Stud.
in the early years we were a mare only stud concentrating on preparing mares for stud, foaling, prepping foals and yearlings for Sales.

In the 1980s we started standing stallions at stud for Natural covering - so have a wealth of experience of managing mares coming into the stud for covering from maidens to mares with foals at foot.

In 1991, Jane graduated with a degree in Animal Sciences specialising in Reproduction and started developing her skills for collecting from stallions for fertility evaluation and then for AI use. In 2003, Jane became an accredited Equine Artificial Insemination Technician and has since had a good success rate with fresh and chilled Insemination.

Since the 1990s, we have been collecting from resident stallions for our own use as well as for UK use; distributing Chilled semen throughout the UK with good success. The Unit became OPEN to non-resident stallions in 2008 offering dummy training, semen evaluation and collections for domestic distribution.

In 2012, We upgraded the whole Stallion Unit and went through the assessment for AHVLA accreditation for Equine Semen Collection for export within the EU.

The Collection Centre is now approved for EU distribution for both chilled and Frozen semen and is OPEN to non-resident stallions.
